I will have to pre warn everyone this is probably going to be a
longer post because I have so much to cover. The most important thing to
let everyone know is that Hunter James Hosmer has arrived. He was born
on May 6th, 2012 at 1200pm. He weighed 7 lbs 6 oz. and measured 20
inches long. He is the most beautiful baby ever and Scott and I fell in
love with him at first glance. It is just the most amazing feeling to
know we are a family and will be together forever. Its at times like
this that I am so grateful to have the knowledge of the gospel in my
life and know for certainty that my family will be together not just in
this life but for all eternity. What a comfort that brings to my heart.
He was not supposed to be here until May 24th but he just couldn't wait
to meet us.
As many of you know we were set to move
into our new two bedroom apartment on May 5th (our apartment is amazing
by the way). Luckily we were able to get everything moved and pretty
much put away before Hunter decided to come. Also, I think Scott jinxed
us because he kept telling Hunter through my belly to just stay put
until the 6th so we could move, and Hunter listened :)
So
we had moved all day and were pretty exhausted and hungry so we decided
to go grab a bite to eat and them come home and hit the sack. We
decided to go to Claim Jumper near our house. We had just finished
eating our yummy mozzarella sticks when I felt this gush of water come
out of me. At first, embarrassing as it might sound, I thought I peed my
pants, but when I tried standing up the water just kept coming. I
looked at Scott and he asked what was wrong, and I said "I think my
water just broke". He couldn't believe it. He then called my mom (who
thought at first he was playing a practical joke on her) and then her
and my dad met us at our place and then we were off to the hospital. Now
at this point I'm starting to realize I am actually going to have to
have a baby. Lets just say I was scared and nervous. I had been thinking
about this for the last couple of weeks but it really hit me at that
moment. We got to the hospital at around 1100pm and by midnight I was
having contractions. They put me on a pain med that slowed down the
contractions so I could get some sleep. At 6 am they started me on
Pitocin to start up the contractions, and boy did they come fast and
hard. At around 730 am I received my epidural (although it was way
better than the alternative, I hated the feeling of not having control
over my legs). The doctor was set to arrive around noon, but at 1100 I
started feeling alot of pressure in my pelvic region and I told the
nurse, so she decided to examine me. I was 10 cm dilated and ready to
push. She had me do a practice push and she had to make me stop because I
was going to push the baby right out. He was really low and ready
to arrive. The doctor got there around 1140 am and 4 pushes later our
bundle of joy came into the world.
I never knew how I
would react when they first put my baby on me. I have never been a real
maternal person so I was afraid of how I would feel. As soon as they put
that baby on my chest I knew he was mine and I was going to love him
unconditionally forever. When they say you get maternal instincts, its
totally true. I knew at that moment that deciding to have children was
the best decision Scott and I have ever made. He is just the most
precious gift I have ever received, and the most wonderful blessing. One of the things though that I will always remember about this day was seeing Hunter be placed in Scott's arms for the first time. Scott is a jokester 99% of the time so I wasn't sure how he would react. But the look in Scott's eyes of just pure love for his child, was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. He is going to be a wonderful support to me and the world's best dad.
Its
been almost two weeks since he has come into our lives and what a
wonderful two weeks it has been. It seems like everything I knew before
his arrival has disappeared and he is what our lives revolve around
now. Went to the doctor last week and he was down to 6 lbs 12 oz. but
the doctor said that was normal. I am breastfeeding and Hunter loves his
mama's milk :) We go back to the doctor tomorrow to make sure he is
gaining weight and to see how he is doing. I will make sure to keep
everyone updated on his milestones. I will post some pics from the
hospital and some more recent pics as well.
The coolest
thing though about him arriving early was I was actually a mother on
this Mother's Day. The greatest gift I received though was our sweet
little boy.
